Straigth Skirt Basic Block
Straigth Skirt Basic Block Size 12(cm)
Sequence
1) Square vertically and horizontally from O
2) 1 down from O = waist to hip - square out 22.0
3) 2 down from O = skirt lenght - square out 57.6
4) 3 out from 1 = hafl hip plus 1.6 cm all sizes - square out
square to locate points 4 and 5 47.6
5) 6 from 1 = 15 from 3 on the bodice plus 1.0 cm. Square to
locate points 7 and 8, making point 8, 1.0 cm 1.0
above O to 4 on the waist line
6) 9 from O = 33 from 2 on the bodice and raised 0.5 cm 8.3
7) 10 from 9 = 33 from 32 on the bodice and raised 0.5 cm. 3.5
Find the centre of 10 from 9 and square down to the hem line.
Point 11 is located 6.0 cm above the hip line. 6.0
Connect points 11-9-10 for the back dart.
8) 12 from 10 =32 from 31 on the bodice and raised 1.0 cm above the waist line 9.8
9) 13 from 6 = 6.0 cm all sizes . Connect points 13 to 12 for back hip curve 6.0
10) 14 from 8 = 12 from 8 and raised 1.0 cm above waist line. Connect 14 to 13 for front hip curve
11) 15 from 4 = 28 from 7 on the bodice, and raised 0.3 cm 7.0
12) 16 from 15 = 1.3 cm all sizes , and raised 0.3 cm 1.3
13) Square down from the centre of 15 and 16 to the hem line
14) Point 17 is 10 cm above the hip line 10.0
15) Connect points 17-15-16 for the front dart
16) Point 18 is midway 16 and 14
17) Square down to the line
18) The difference between 14 from 16 on the skirt and 30 from 29 on the bodice is
placed either side of point for the side dart 1.4
19) Sqaure down to the hem line
20) Point 21 is 11 cm up from the hip line 11.0
21) Connect 21 to 20 and 19
Draw in the waist line as show in Figure, trace off the block pattern , close out the waist darts and test the waist line for shape. Connect if necessary .
